Privacy Policy

Who we are

Otto is an iPhone app operated by Appsolutely Software (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use Otto to scan and evaluate used car listings, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the app, our website, and support emails.

Information we collect

Listing content you submit — links, screenshots, photos, VINs, mileage, asking price, seller notes, and any text you type into the app — so Otto can analyze the vehicle and return a deal score, price range, known issues, and negotiation guidance.

Account details such as your email address, and, if you subscribe, a purchase receipt identifier from Apple. We never receive or store your full payment card details; Apple processes all payments.

Device and diagnostic data: device model, operating system version, app version, crash reports, coarse region, and IP address, used to keep the app secure and working.

Usage data such as which features you open, how often you scan, and in-app errors, collected in aggregate to improve the product.

Optional data you choose to share: saved vehicles in your garage, and messages you send to support or through our contact form.

How we use it, and our legal bases

To deliver the service you requested — producing listing analyses, price comparisons, red-flag detection, and negotiation scripts (performance of a contract).

To operate, secure, debug, and improve the app, prevent abuse and fraud, and respond to support requests (our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights).

To send service messages, and — only with your consent where required — product updates you can unsubscribe from at any time.

To comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and lawful requests from authorities.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for third-party ad targeting.

AI processing

Otto's analyses are generated by large language models and by comparison against listing and market data. When you submit a listing, its content is sent to our AI processing providers to produce your result.

We contractually require these providers not to use your content to train their general-purpose models. We may review de-identified or aggregated inputs and outputs to measure accuracy and improve prompts and safety.

AI output can be incomplete or wrong. Treat every analysis as an estimate, not an inspection or appraisal.

Please avoid submitting information you would not want processed by a third-party AI provider, including documents containing other people's personal details.

Sharing and service providers

We share personal information only with vetted processors who help us operate Otto: cloud hosting and databases, authentication, AI model providers, crash reporting and analytics, and email delivery. Each is bound by a written agreement limiting them to our instructions.

Apple handles subscription billing and provides us with limited receipt and status information.

We may disclose information where legally required, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public. If we are ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer to the successor under this policy.

We do not disclose your listing content to sellers, dealers, or any car marketplace.

International transfers

We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose data-protection laws differ from yours.

Where we transfer personal information out of the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses together with additional technical and organizational measures.

Retention

Scans and saved vehicles are kept while your account is active, and are deleted within 30 days after you delete them in the app or close your account, except where a longer period is required by law.

Backups containing deleted data are purged on a rolling schedule of no more than 90 days. Aggregated or de-identified statistics that can no longer identify you may be kept indefinitely.

Support correspondence and billing records are retained for as long as needed for legal, tax, and dispute-resolution purposes.

Security

We protect data in transit with TLS and at rest with encryption provided by our hosting platform, restrict internal access on a need-to-know basis, and use per-user access rules so one account cannot read another's scans.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you and any regulator as required by applicable law.

To report a security issue, email hello@appsolutely.software with details; please give us a reasonable opportunity to fix it before public disclosure.

Your rights and choices

You can access, correct, export, or delete your information from within the app, or by emailing us. Account deletion removes your scans, garage, and profile.

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected, request deletion or correction, and opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.

You can turn off analytics collection in the app's settings, and control notification and tracking permissions in iOS settings.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website uses only essential storage needed to serve the site and remember your preferences. The app does not use advertising identifiers and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Children

Otto is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, email us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes

If we update this policy we will revise the date below and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
